Wire Drawing Machinery - Ferrous and Non Ferrous
Wiredrawing is a process for pulling wire at room tempeature through a die to reduce the cross sectional area to a required size, this is possible for all metals ferrous and non-ferrous. The wire in the process is deformed plastically in the die due to the pulling force and taper of the die, hence there is a limit to the reduction that can be achieved in one die without breaking, consequently machines are made of multiple dies.
Wiredrawing machines use wet or powder lubrication to assist in the drawing process dependant on the material, and are manufactured in a range of sizes according to the required finished size. In conjunction with the drawing process annealing is needed to re-soften the wire either in line after drawing or in a batch process.
