What is Extrusion in the Cable Industry?
Extrusion is a process for forcing material through a die, for thermoplastic material used in cable making, heat is required to soften the material before entering the die, a single screw extruder is usually used for this type of extrusion to force the material forward and through the die. The die is mounted in a crosshead which allows passage of the copper core and the extrudate from the die to create an electric cable.
